Prestashop vs Magento

What is the best CMS for an e-store? Prestashop vs Magento? Which is better? How about some bridges? e-commerce (like Magento) + Wordpress, or e-commerce + Joomla!?

Personally, I prefer PrestaShop in despite of the fact that Magento is slightly (by default settings) technologically more advanced.

  • Magento is brutally slow, overwhelmingly CPU/RAM consuming and it affects your web hosting bills. You'll have to pay instantly more and, probably, it'll be for a private server having more RAM and cores with some higher clock speed. Magento community recommends you to start with 2-8 (2.3GHz+) cores with few GBs of RAM/core. Of course, it's dependent on more factors how much you really need.
Google shows me on the first position: (£138 per month), however, there're cheaper dedicated servers. Either way, Magento sucks. PrestaShop can really run cheaper (powered by weaker hardware).
  • The lazy speed is a disadvantage as well (even without any consequent side effects like the high performance hardware requirements).
It will cause a rapid leave of customers and worse position in search engine results.
  • Any miantrance will be more expensive.

The vast majority of security vulnerabilities, the risk associated with Magento and PrestaShop comes together with the bridges between a blogging system (WordPress) and e-commerce CMS. Are you willing to risk bank card details of your customers?

Magento provides more options immediately after a simple installation. Both of the systems are easy to manage and they have enough of downloadable extensions, or themes. Both of them are great.

People say, Prestashop will cost you less than half of the money spent on your business powered by Magento. Prestashop is the most common choice of people creating a smaller e-store, whereas bigger businesses build it on Magento.
